None of the health care reform plans now under discussion in Washington address the critical issue of paying for coverage for sick people, according to an MIT economist who had a hand in crafting the federal Affordable Care Act.

Susan Gretkowski, a lobbyist for MVP Health Care, a major insurer in Vermont and NY, said the company hired a lobbying firm in Washington to keep up to date on what is going on with the Affordable Care Act.

The Republican congressman who represents Aurora announced Monday he'll hold two listening tours related to health care access - one tour next week with health care providers and patient advocacy groups and one in March with constituents via telephone town halls.

"If policy makers choose to repeal the ACA without a replacement bill, it is important that the savings from the repeal be placed into a reserve fund to be used for future replacement efforts, or to eliminate the ongoing payment reductions to hospital services that were part of the ACA", McMillan said.

Monday's forum will begin at 10:45 a.m.at the Oakland Senior Center.

Key provisions of ACA replacement or fix should stand on these basic principles: (1) cover everyone, including the 20 million Americans who now have health insurance because of ACA and those who are still without it; (2) protect the safety net to sustain vital federal and state support until full coverage for all Americans is achieved; (3) maintain sufficient payments to physicians and hospitals to ensure that their doors remain open; and (4) encourage cost-saving innovation throughout our health care system led by those with a track record of finding new solutions. "We remain open to and encourage a swift vote on a health care package that is market-based, consumer driven, and fair".

"We would like to believe that there is a plan, that somebody in Washington has a plan", Laggis said.

In a letter to Tom Price, the newly confirmed secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Democratic Sens.

But one of the most popular aspects of the ACA, regardless of party affiliation, is the dependent child coverage provision, which allows young adults like myself to stay on their parents' plans until they're 26 years old. "It is not easy to change law". This includes federal subsidies, Medicaid expansion, coverage that employers provide.

"If you really want to change the Affordable Care Act, you're really thinking 2020", Gobeille said.
